He hit the ground running. He was good looking, popular and was on a winning team and the media in his corner.
He thought nothing could stop him ___ until he met the Republicans on the Hill.
The media lead us all to believe that President Barack Obama had enough steam coming out of the primaries to win the general election and then go to the White House and command things be done his way. Leave it to the media to create a distorted perception of reality.
Truth is we are now seeing what President Obama is made of. Granted this is his first major test, but if he is to reign supreme for the next four years how he handles this will be the benchmark on how his Presidency will be judged.
The new President is now realizing the hype the media gave his Presidency “ ‘the first African American President’ no one will refuse him” was just that hype. The Republican don’t seem to care who he is or where he came from they are beating down his stimulus package.
Yes he invited them to the White House for afternoon tea and biscuits. The media said he was Ronald Reagan and would surely prevail with this move. Ha! The Republicans came; they drank; they ate and still said no. Now he will have to take his show on the road to get the people to rally his cause by contacting their senators/representatives.
Every day now we see a tired and perhaps frustrated President Barack Obama on television telling saying it is important his stimulus package is approved.
What else is left for Mr. President to do? I suppose it is now time to put aside the first African American title and the media hype and just be the President who needs to get his stimulus package planned. Perhaps he should try strategizing like President Lyndon B. Johnson with a twist of President Reagan.
If only it were so easy as the media claimed it would be.
